DIRECTIONS

Steel Valley Soccer Club uses several fields, including St. Therese Field (for inhouse games and practices and U12 and younger travel soccer games); Campbell Field (for travel practices and U13 and older travel soccer games); West Field (for U13 and older travel soccer games); Steel Valley High School (for practices); and Woodlawn Field (for practices).  All fields are within a mile of each other.

From 376E, get off at the Homestead/Squirrel Hill Exit just before the Squirrel Hill Tunnel if you are driving Eastbound (e.g., away from downtown Pittsburgh) or just after the Squirrel Hill Tunnel if you are driving Westbound (e.g., towards downtown Pittsburgh).

Follow signs for Homestead/Waterfront/Kennywood, staying on Beechwood Blvd.

Stay straight while proceeding up the hill (at the top of the hill is a five-way intersection at a traffic light with a Speedway gas station on the right) and then down the hill (the road name changes to Browns Hill Road) and over the Homestead Grays Bridge (as you cross over the Homestead Grays Bridge, the Waterfront retail and commercial development will be below you).

At the end of the bridge, stay straight through the light and proceed up hill (now called West St.) until it dead-end's/T's at a cemetery (the Munhall Boro Building will be on your right shortly before you reach the T).

At the T, turn left onto West Run Rd., and continue to the traffic light (which is only 40 yards ahead).

At the traffic light, turn right onto Main St. 

Continue on Main St. for approximately 3/4 of a mile.  On your left, you will pass Steel Valley High School.  Immediately after Steel Valley High School, also on your left, is St. Therese Church and School.

Turn left onto the St. Therese property.   There are two entrances and an exit.  Take either entrance, and drive to the back of the property until you reach a chain link fence.  At the chain link fence, turn right (thus keeping the the chain link fence to your left).

Follow the chain link fence down an access road (the Tower, a multi-story retirement home, will be to your right).

Proceed slowly down the access road.  On your left will be an opening with a yellow gate (if you reach a regular road before you see the opening, you have gone too far).  Turn left into the opening.  The field will be in front of you.  There is parking at the field, although you can also park in the St. Therese parking lot or the Steel Valley High School parking lot.  The field is grass.  There is a port-a-john on sight.  There are no benches for players or spectators.  Please note that you will NOT be able to see the field until you turn into the opening. 

When you leave the field, you must turn left onto the access road.  At the bottom of the access road, turn right.  At the stop sign, turn right on Main St. if you want to drive back towards the Waterfront and 376.

From the South Hills, proceed to Lebanon Church Road.  From Lebanon Church Road (heading toward the County Airport from the direction of Curry Hollow/Brownsville/Broughton), turn left onto Rt. 885 (Lebanon Rd.).  Where 885 T's, turn right onto Mifflin Rd.  From Mifflin Rd., drive for approximately 200 yards and take the first left hand turn onto Mooney Rd. (which is a residential street).  From Mooney Rd., turn left onto West Run Rd. (Mooney effectively T's at West Run Rd.).  Continue straight to the first traffic light at Main St.  Turn right onto Main St.  Continue on Main St. for approximately 3/4 of a mile.  On your left, you will pass Steel Valley High School.  Immediately after Steel Valley High School, also on your left, is St. Therese Church and School.

From 376E, get off at Homestead/Squirrel Hill Exit (Exit 74) just before the Squirrel Hill Tunnel if you are Eastbound (driving away from downtown), or just after the Squirrel Hill Tunnel if you are Westbound (driving towards downtown).

Follow signs for Homestead/Waterfront/Sand Castle, staying on Beechwood Blvd.

Turn right at the dead end/T onto West Run Rd.

Proceed about 4/10 of a mile on West Run Rd.  The field is on the right.   You cannot see the field from the street.  Instead, look for signs: on the left, for Campbell Field, and on the right, for Eldercest Nursing Home.  At the sign for Eldercrest, turn right onto the driveway and take the driveway all the way up.  Campbell Field will be in front of you. 

Parking is on-site.  There is grandstand seating and benches for the players.  We have a port-a-john on site, but do not have access to the locker rooms or the restrooms.  The field is turf.  The soccer lines are the black lines.

West Field will be on your right (shortly before West Street T’s at a cemetery).  It is behind Munhall Volunteer Fire Station 2 and the Munhall Boro Building, both of which will also be on your right.  There are bathrooms on sight.  There are no stands for spectators.  While there are benches for players, the Boro does not always put them out.  West Field is a turf field.

Your best bet for parking is as follows: as you are coming up West Street from the direction of the Homestead Grays Bridge, just before the Volunteer Fire Station, and just after the large Blind and Rehabilitation Services building (it used to be a hospital, and kind of looks like that), there is an unmarked “road/driveway.”  Turn down that and park anywhere along that road.  The further down you go, it widens.  Otherwise, there is a small Boro lot in front of the MAPS garage (Munhall Area Prehospital Services, an ambulance company) and there are side streets on either side of West Street.

Continue on Woodlawn.  At the end of Woodlawn, continue straight, driving over the curb onto the grass.  Drive accross the grass.  The field will be in front of you, down the hill.  Do not drive onto the field; instead park at the top of the little hill.  There are no bathroom facilities or seating at Woodlawn.  The field is grass.
